Team news: Kids in?

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham hinted again that he might throw the kids into action against Birmingham City on Tuesday night.

We will still be without the services of Sol Campbell (shoulder), Oyvind Leonhardsen (hamstring), Steffen Iversen (knee) Mauricio Taricco and Chris Armstrong (both groin) while Sergei Rebrov (thigh) and Ben Thatcher (shin) remain doubtful.

Boss George filled the bench with youngsters at Chelsea and gave Simon Davies and Gary Doherty a late taste of the action. It’s likely to be a similar story for the Worthington Cup third round tie at the Lane.

“The injuries are getting better,” George insisted. “Sol’s improving, Rebrov’s improving, Thatcher — we’ll have to see how he is on Tuesday but at least he trained on Monday.

“The injuries are disappointing but at the same time it gives the young boys a chance to get on the bench and maybe we can bring on one or two.

“The fans might as well accept that it’s not going to be a quick fix at Tottenham. It will have to take its time, be steady progress and if necessary we might have to put the kids in the team. I’ve never been frightened of doing that though.”

Willem Korsten should hold onto his place up front with Les Ferdinand if Rebrov fails to make it. Thatcher (pictured right) has more of a chance but Luke Young, impressive at Chelsea on Saturday, stands by just in case.

Tuesday’s tie will be played to a finish at the Lane. If the scores are level after 90 minutes we’ll play the usual 30 minutes extra-time. If it’s still level then, the tie will be decided on penalties.
