Team news: Alton's chance?
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
George Graham hinted that young defender Alton Thelwell may figure in his plans at Coventry City on Saturday.
The 20-year-old has been in excellent form for the reserves but despite being on the bench a few times has yet to feature at Premiership level.
With Sol Campbell (shoulder), Maurico Taricco (groin) and Luke Young (foot) all out and youngsters Anthony Gardner and Ledley King just on their way back after injury, the squad is short on defensive cover.
Boss George said: “Just over three weeks ago I was chatting to a few people at the club and saying how fantastic it was that we didn’t have any injuries.
“Within a week we picked up a bad one from Sol, Darren Anderton had one while Luke Young and Mauricio Tarrico haven’t recovered as well as we thought they would. It was sad that we’ve gone from being in a very comfortable medical position to a very difficult one.
“Having said that it gives opportunities for youngsters to come in.
“We’ve got young Alton Thelwell who has done ever so well, trained with us for the last couple of weeks and looks very promising. He might figure in the Coventry game.”
One player who will definitely figure is out-of-favour goalkeeper Ian Walker.
The England star is set for his first Premiership appearance of the season with his rival for the number one spot Neil Sullivan serving a one-match ban.
That also means a place on the bench for 38-year-old Hans Segers.
Elsewhere, George reported a clean bill of health from the returning internationals which means in addition to the defensive absentees only striker Chris Armstrong (hamstring) remains out.
