Jermain Defoe and Teemu Tainio are the big doubts for Martin Jol before the Boxing Day clash against Birmingham City.

Jermain Defoe and Teemu Tainio are the big doubts for Martin Jol before the Boxing Day clash against Birmingham City.

Striker Jermain will have a late fitness test on the ankle injury he sustained at Middlesbrough last weekend and Teemu is struggling to overcome a knee injury picked up against Portsmouth.

Andy Reid will definitely miss the Christmas and New Year period and more with a knee injury also picked up at Middlesbrough.

Better news sees both Wayne Routledge (knee) and Aaron Lennon (hamstring) available for selection.

Head Coach Martin said: "Jermain will have a late test. He hasn't trained with us but he looks okay, hopefully.

"He will have a test tomorrow and Sunday before the match.

"Andy Reid will be out for up to a month with a knee ligament injury and Teemu Tainio is getting better but unlikely to be fit.

"Wayne Routledge and Aaron Lennon are both back in training and both in contention."
