Benoit Assou-Ekotto is closing in on a return to action.

The full-back has been out since September with a knee injury but has trained with the squad and could be set for a comeback in Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against Coventry at the Lane.

Gareth Bale is available after serving a one-match suspension against Reading on New Year's Day. Younes Kaboul remains sidelined.

"Benoit is fit and training well," reported Assistant Head Coach Steffen Freund after training on Thursday. "He's getting closer.

"Younes is a longer-term injury, but he’s doing well, he’s running and working with the fitness coaches."
