Team first for emotional Erik
28 September 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Erik Lamela earned the plaudits after his performance against City but, as always, he was only interested in the team.
The Argentina international produced a display full on energy, non-stop closing down and was rewarded with the fourth goal as we ran out 4-1 winners.
His performance earned Man of the Match awards from our supporters and host broadcaster BT Sports.
Erik simply said ‘thank-you’ to the praise coming his way. “The fans always support me and I can say thank-you for that,” he smiled.
“I’m very happy because we won and we deserved to win.
“We played well, we were aggressive and we showed character to change the result (come from 1-0 down).”

Erik admitted it was an ‘emotional moment’ to score, knowing his goal firmly put the issue beyond doubt. “I was happy when the ball hit the net, but even happier that we won.
“The most important thing is the team and we go home happy because we showed character and changed the result.”
