Taricco's turn for the better
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
It is doubtful whether any player is relishing pre-season training and friendlies more that Mauricio Taricco. For our elegant left-back it is a release from a near season-long injury hell.
The Argentine has a smile on his face as he walks the grounds of Spurs Lodge with his new mate Gus Poyet — a far cry from his understandably sullen demeanour of last term as he contemplated a long stint in the treatment room.
Mauricio was struck down with groin-related problems in September of last season, a problem compounded for the team with Ben Thatcher following him onto the treatment table shortly afterwards.
He managed a couple of reserve games at the end of the campaign and is now seeking a path into the plans of the manager for the new season.
The 27-year-old did not disagree when it was suggested that this pre-season is like a new start for him.
"Definitely, I had a nightmare with this injury last year, but hopefully that will stay in the past," said a hopeful Mauricio, who added that he feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.
"Of course, if you can’t run you can’t compete, so I believe now I can run, kick the ball about and join in. It is now up to me to play well and try to get a place in the team and do something good for the club."
