Taricco: I thought it was all over
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Mauricio Taricco has revealed that there were times he thought his career was over during his eight-month spell on the sidelines.
Our Argentinian defender, 28, finally returned to action in Tuesday night’s reserve team outing at Arsenal having last played in our Premiership defeat at Charlton on September 16.
Since then he’s suffered from groin problems and mystery pain in his abductor and backside. These problems were finally resolved with a visit to a new doctor in Italy in March.
So where there times he thought it was all over? “Yes, of course,” he admitted at Highbury. “I always had hope of returning but time was going by and I felt that there was some pain always there and I couldn’t get rid of it.
“I saw loads of different doctors here in England, sometimes in Germany, but no-one knew why I had that pain.
“A month ago I went to see a new doctor in Italy, he treated my back and within two weeks I was running again.
“I am a footballer, I want to play football. I’ve always done that and never had a long-term injury. Having said that, I didn’t think this would be. It just got to be that way. It was a mystery to me and other people.
“It is just great to be playing again. I will play again next week against Coventry and hopefully I will play 90 minutes. I don’t feel as sharp as I should but I’m happy that I have no pains and I’m playing again.”
