Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

In the latest of his previews of forthcoming games, David Pleat casts his eye of Saturday's opponents West Ham United.

WEST HAM HAVE some very good players, no-one doubts that.

It's been diffcult this season for the likes of Carrick and Cole, who made a very good impression when they first came in.

But sometimes any team is only as good as its foundations and defensively you have to be strong to allow the creative players to express themselves. That is what Cole is, what Di Canio is, Kanoute as well.

They've also had problems with injuries with the likes of Kanoute, Di Canio and loss of form in certain areas.

I think Glenn Roeder has stuck to it terrifically well. He is a very sound guy and football is a very fickle game, so he has had to guide them through some poor results and keep spirits up and that's not easy when you have people like his Italian friend who is making comments too easily to the press whether purposely or inadvertently. I don't know the inside story there.

What I do know though is that at their best, they have some good footballers who are capable of scoring goals.

That is why, because they have more goals potentially in their locker, I feel they have a greater chance of staying up than perhaps Sunderland or West Brom.

West Ham have goalscorers and perhaps, I don't know, had Defoe started more games, they might have snatched more goals.

It will be fascinating to see Les and we hope he does well but not too well - a comment I'm sure he will appreciate. He's a fine man, Les Ferdinand, a sportsman, always got a smile on his face and that is like gold dust.

We played West Ham's reserves on Tuesday night and it was really refreshing to see their chairman, managing director, Trevor Brooking and the secretary all there to watch the reserve team.

In a way, that's supportive of the manager, who was also there. I hope Glenn Roeder and West Ham come through. I've always had a soft spot for them.
