Take nothing as 'Red' - Tom
24 December 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Tom Carroll has warned his playing colleagues of the threats posed by Norwich City’s Nathan Redmond ahead of our Boxing Day clash at White Hart Lane.
Midfielder Tom has played alongside the Canaries’ winger for England Under-21s along with Harry Kane and Alex Pritchard and, as such, he knows all about the talents of the former Birmingham City man.
Redmond was to the fore as Norwich saw off Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend and, as well as his team-mates, he’s sure to be in buoyant mood following that 2-1 win.
But Tom says it’s up to us to nullify the visitors’ attacking threats and ensure we take the points ourselves as we look to build on last week’s 2-0 win at Southampton.
“Nathan is a good player – the lads know that,” said the 23-year-old. “He’ll look to attack when he can and he’s got a lot of ability on the ball, as have their other players.
“I’m sure Nathan will look to get at our lads and try to beat them, but we’ve got to make sure that doesn’t happen.
“It was a great result for them against United last week, they did us a favour as well in terms of the league table, but it shows what they can do.
“We’re confident ourselves, though, and hopefully we can have another positive result after the good win away at St Mary’s last week. Southampton are a good side so it was nice to get a positive result there and get back to winning ways after a couple of draws and a loss. Now we need to kick on against Norwich and Watford on December 28.”
The Lane is sure to be packed out for our clash with the Canaries as festive football fever takes over in the immediate aftermath of Christmas.
Tom says he shares the enthusiasm of players and fans alike for matches at this time of year.
“I love the festive games!” he added. “On Boxing Day when I was younger and I wasn’t playing I used to go and watch a local game with my family so it’s nice to have the Norwich game to focus on this year.”
