Taffy O'Callaghan

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

A forward with great flair, Taffy O'Callaghan was a bright spot when, in general, the club was struggling in the last 1920's, early 1930's.

Having joined the groundstaff from Ebbw Vale in 1925, he made such an impression on his debut in January 1927 that by August that year the club allowed another legend, Jimmy Seed, to move on to Sheffield Wednesday.

Adored by the crowd, O'Callaghan could pick a pass, was great with both feet and packed a powerful shot.
A regular goalscorer, he hit 93 goals in 252 league appearances, over 100 in all competitions, he won his first cap for Wales in May 1929 and picked up 11 in total during his time at Spurs.

Having helped steer the club back into the First Division in 1932-33 he was somewhat surprisingly transferred to Leicester City in March 1935. He went on to guest for us during the Second World War before coaching at Fulham.
Appearances/goals: 252/93 (Lg), 11/6 (FAC).
