Swansea 1-3 Spurs - Tim's verdict

19 January 2014|Tottenham Hotspur

Tim Sherwood felt our quality shone through as we made it five away wins on the trot in the Premier League at Swansea on Sunday.

The home team started impressively – Wilfried Bony rattled the crossbar – but once Emmanuel Adebayor nodded home from Christan Eriksen’s pinpoint cross, we took over.

Nacer Chadli whistled a shot just over and Gerhard Tremmel did well to keep out Ade’s blaster as we started to create chances.

It took just eight minutes to double our lead in the second half when Chico Flores turned Kyle Walker’s cross into his own net and we put the issue beyond doubt with a classic counter-attack, Ade providing the finish from Danny Rose’s final pass.

“We didn’t have a shot on target until we scored but I always thought we were a massive threat,” said Tim.

“We just needed to find that final ball, get our schemers on the ball in the final third and make that final pass, make it tell. We did that for an hour, we were excellent.

“It took a while get used to how they play. They do play differently, give credit to them, they are brave on the ball and give it to each other when they are marked, you have to give them respect for that.

“But our quality shone through.

“We stuck to it, the game ironed itself out and in the end we were comfortable. We could have scored a few more.

“It was a good performance and the fans were magnificent. I know what they are all about, they want entertainment and that’s what they are getting at the moment.”

We last achieved five-successive away league wins in our famous double-winning season of 1960-61.
