Swansea 1-3 Spurs - Hugo's view

Hugo Lloris underlined the importance of scoring first in Sunday’s 3-1 win at Swansea.

Our French number one helped make sure we did just that at the Liberty Stadium with a fine save from Jonjo Shelvey as the Swans pushed forward in the early stages.

The pendulum swung our way though once Emmanuel Adebayor headed home Christian Eriksen’s cross for the opener on 35 minutes.

We dominated from there and stretched our lead to 3-0 thanks to an own goal from Chico Flores and Ade’s second, a classic breakaway.

“It was a tough game against a very good team,” reflected Hugo. “Swansea play really good football and had some chances to score at the beginning of the game but we were strong.

“If they scored first perhaps it’s not the same but as I said, we were strong. At a good moment, we showed a good response and when we had the chances, we scored.

“We waited and when we got the ball, we started to play and we did it well. To win in Swansea is never easy, so it’s a good win for the team.”

Hugo’s only disappointment – and Head Coach Tim Sherwood’s - was conceding a late consolation.

“We have to keep the right mentality,” he said. “Maybe we dropped a little as well and conceded a goal, that was disappointing because we wanted to keep a clean sheet, important for the goal difference. Still, it’s a great three points.”
