Sven praise for Daz
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Sven Goran Eriksson registered his praise for Darren Anderton after the midfielder won his first England cap under his charge on Saturday.
Darren earned the 30th cap of his career when he came on as substitute alongside Teddy Sheringham against Sweden at Old Trafford.
Playing in Eriksson's troublesome spot on the left side of midfield, Darren looked lively in the final half-hour and was involved in the move that almost led to a goal from Robbie Fowler.
Teddy showed his usual awareness in dropping off and linking play, most notably with David Beckham, as the score ended 1-1.
Eriksson said he was encouraged by his 'new' players including Trevor Sinclair and Kevin Phillips.
"I think Sinclair played well in the first half and Anderton came in and he did okay," he said. "But it's very difficult to show in 30 minutes that 'I'm the man'.
"You can try new players like Phillips and I think all of them did well."
Eriksson dismissed suggestions that friendly matches were so far removed from the cut and thrust of World Cup qualification clashes that they can offer few new clues as to the way to go in the future.
"It's not difficult to motivate the players because they're very professional and they want to win but it is a little bit of a different approach."
The Swede admitted he had found it rather strange sitting on the bench trying to plot the downfall of his home nation.
He added: "I know a lot of people on the other bench and the pitch and I think it was a good football match to watch.
"I heard it was 33 years ago that England last beat Sweden, and now we have to wait another year and try to beat them again the World Cup if we meet them."
Meanwhile, Christian Ziege and Sergei Rebrov started for Germany and Ukraine respectively in Saturday's World Cup play-off, first leg, in Kiev.
Sergei was substituted after 56 minutes as the game ended 1-1.
They now meet again in Dortmund on Wednesday for a place in next summer's finals.
