'Surely he's not going to shoot...'
Harry Redknapp conceded to being less than confident when Kyle Walker stepped up to take what turned out to be a magnificent, match-clinching free-kick in Sunday's 2-0 win against Blackburn.
"I turned to the bench and said ‘surely he’s not going to shoot from there, he’s not going to beat Robbo’, and he stuck it in the top corner," said Harry. "The lads all started laughing."
It was certainly all smiles at the Lane after Kyle planted the free-kick from fully 30 yards beyond Paul Robinson's dive into the top corner in the 75th minute of Sunday's one-sided encounter.
That made it 2-0 and put the game beyond doubt - and the result moved us back into fourth place in the Premier League.
"It was great for Kyle, a fantastic goal," said Harry of the full-back who was voted PFA Young Player of the Year last weekend.
"He’s a young lad who has come into the side and is learning all the time. He’s got everything, he’s quick as lightning and he’s learning the defensive side of it as well.
"He's certainly a lad with a big future."
