Supporting lung cancer awareness with Roy Castle Lung Foundation and ‘Get to know cancer’

The 'Get to know cancer' campaign has partnered with The Roy Castle Lung Foundation to raise awareness of lung cancer and its signs and symptoms.

Volunteers will be located outside White Hart Lane from 1:30pm-4pm at Sunday's North London derby, offering free health advice and BMI checks.

Thinking about giving up smoking?  Come and visit the market stall on Spurs Square - Stop smoking advisors will be available to talk to you about ways to give up.

Ann’s story

"I was never one to get ill - thank goodness I decided to go along to see my GP.

“I felt I led a healthy life In fact, the morning of my diagnosis I had been for a nice swim at a local outdoor pool. However, when I coughed up a spot of blood after cleaning my teeth I thought I should go along to see my GP. It was 16th December, when after a series of tests, I was diagnosed with lung cancer.

“I count myself extremely fortunate to have received such excellent world class care. Each year almost 40,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK, making it the second most common cancer after breast cancer.

“If you notice any changes to your body get checked out.  The earlier cancer is diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatments. Cancer is treatable, even beatable.”
