Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
You wouldn't normally expect to see Helder Postiga and Malcolm Macdonald mentioned in the same story but, following Helder's first goal, David Pleat relayed a story he told the young striker about 'Supermac's' early days.
The outside pressure was rising on the Portuguese star as he searched for that first goal before he delivered in the vital Carling Cup tie against Manchester City.
Acting boss David revealed: "I told Helder a story about Malcolm Macdonald in his very early days at Luton before he went on to Newcastle and then Arsenal.
"We went about telling him to shoot on sight and Malcolm Macdonald became one of the most positive, single-minded strikers in the history of English football.
"He was a real goalscorer and you have to believe you are going to score. You must't be afraid to miss and mustn't let things worry you.
"I think Helder is taking everything on board and it would be super for him if he could continue to score.
"It's not easy, the Premier League, it's harder than the Portuguese League. But I think he's settled in and done quite well. He has a fierce shot, is very strong for his age and all parts of his game will improve by playing with better players every day of the week."
David also pointed to the example of a striking legend now back at the club in a coaching capacity - Clive Allen.
He added: "Yes, Clive speaks with players when he sees fit.
"I can tell you about Clive Allen. Every Friday morning in that wonderful season (86-87) he used to hit volleys into an empty net - about 30 before he finished training.
"Someone would throw him the ball and he would volley, volley, volley to get good shape and feeling for the ball. He was a very confident striker. He took shots on the half-turn whereas some players want to get past the last player. "
