Sunderland vs Spurs - Lewis targets maximum points

06 December 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

The importance of Saturday’s trip to Sunderland is not lost on Lewis Holtby.

Wednesday night’s matchwinner at Fulham has stressed the importance of building up our points total as we strive to build up another winning streak throughout the busy December period.

Next on our agenda is a tough game at the Stadium of Light – but with Gus Poyet’s men struggling at the foot of the table, midfielder Lewis knows we’ll have to be at our best if we’re going to take any points away from the North East.

“Back in Germany we would call it a six-point game and it’s the same here,” said the German international. “If we win that game we’re close to the top four and that’s what we’re aiming for.

“It is going to be a really hard test to go there to Sunderland.

“They’re starting to play. They lost 4-3 to Chelsea on Wednesday which was unfortunate for them but we need to go there with confidence.

“We have to show them our game and take the positives from Wednesday’s win at Fulham.”
