Sunderland U21s v Spurs - Matt's preview
23 August 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Coach Matt Wells is looking for our Under-21s to continue their good form in front of goal at Sunderland today (Sunday, August 23).
We take on the Black Cats at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground at 3pm, having hit the back of the net seven times over our two Barclays Under-21 Premier League matches so far this season.
Anticipating a stern test against Sunderland, Matt says the players will once again be looking to impose themselves on the game in a bid to produce a positive display.
“We’ve scored seven goals in two games which we’re pretty pleased with and that’s something that probably represents the style that we play in, so we’ll look to continue to do that at Sunderland,” said Matt.
“It’s been a similar training week to what we usually have with a lot of individual work, focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of the players and trying to improve them in advance of the game.
“These are the types of matches we want for the players and they represent realistic challenges for us. Can the boys go and impose their style against very tough opposition? That’s something we’ll be observing and we have to say that last season, over both our games against Sunderland, we failed in some of our objectives so we’ll be looking to correct that this time.”
