Summer to remember for Tallahassee Tottenham Hotspur

15 September 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Tallahassee Tottenham Hotspur, one of our US Youth Partner clubs, received a first-hand experience of English football this summer as part of the ongoing player development programme.

An Under-15 side from the Florida-based club visited London for games against teams from our Academy, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Education and Football Development Centre programme, and Millwall, as well as getting the chance to train at Hotspur Way.

Tallahassee Tottenham Hotspur is one of two Youth Partner Clubs that have been established in North America, alongside El Cerrito F.C. Spurs in the Bay Area of California.

Our Youth Partner Clubs benefit from having a member of our Global Coaching team oversee player development as part of the Club’s wider commitment to developing the game at grassroots level across the world. The teams also train and play matches in Tottenham Hotspur kit.

Tallahassee’s visit also included a stadium tour, a sightseeing trip around London and a guest coaching session from Spurs legend Ledley King.

Alex Minton, Director of Coaching at Tallahassee Tottenham Hotspur, said: “The opportunity for the players to train in London with top quality coaches in world class facilities is something that they have never experienced.  To receive this level of care and attention and follow how the professionals train is the culture we strive for at Tallahassee. We are excited about the future of our partnership with Spurs, one of the world’s leading football clubs.”

Grant Cornwell MBE, Head of Global Coaching, Tottenham Hotspur, added:  “With our innovative programmes, we are creating pathways and opportunities for the young players and coaches associated with Tallahassee. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity provided a fantastic insight for our partner club into the way Tottenham Hotspur works with its young players. With the valuable experience gained this sets the platform for the players and coaches to go back as better players and coaches.”
