Strong sentiments from Erik after Watford win

Erik Lamela summed up the team’s confidence after Saturday’s win over Watford with the bold declaration: “Everything is possible if we believe and we are believing.”
The Argentine international returned to the starting XI for our 1-0 victory over the Hornets at White Hart Lane as we made it six wins in a row in all competitions and leapfrogged next weekend’s opponents, Manchester City, into second spot in the Premier League table.
Former Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes made a string of saves as we subjected the Hornets to wave after wave of attack before Kieran Trippier got forward from right-back to finally breach their resistance on 64 minutes.
Erik was thrilled to see us keep up our winning momentum and spoke about his own levels of belief, as well as those of the squad as a whole, ahead of what he described as a vital game at the Etihad next Sunday.
“I think the team played really well today – we managed the ball during the 90 minutes, we played a very good game and we deserved the win,” he said.
“I think Gomes did really well, he played a good game, but we did very well to create a lot of chances and thankfully in the end we scored.
“We are second now, we keep moving on in the table so that is good. We keep winning which is very important for us, but the next one at Manchester City is more important now.
“I hope we can beat them but we expect a difficult game. Every game is difficult, every game is important, so we need to keep training to give the maximum next week.
“For me, I feel confident and I am training hard like my team-mates. Everyone trains hard to do their best on the pitch and I think this team is a very good team because we have quality and we are all together to fight.”
