Strength in adversity - Mauricio's support for Winks
03 April 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino is convinced Harry Winks will come back stronger from his ankle injury.
This season has been packed full of positives for the young midfielder - Premier League debut, first start, first goal, 33 appearances, England Under-21 caps - until football's fate struck at Turf Moor.
Harry went in for a challenge that took him off balance near the touchline and his momentum saw him crash into the technical areas. He was stretchered off and we now await the results of further assessment and tests.
"It’s true it’s a big moment for him, a difficult period, but our staff have a lot of experience and it’s important to support him, to give him confidence and trust and now it’s about thinking about recovery and focusing on being available as soon as possible," said Mauricio.
"It’s true that every single professional player will suffer some injuries and (in adversity) you build your character, your personality, strong belief and mentality. It’a a negative thing but you can turn that into something positive, and come back stronger than before. It's all about learning.
"You should always be positive and we’ll help him to be positive with good energy to be available as soon as possible."
