Stoke 3-0 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

There was no hiding Mauricio Pochettino’s disappointment after our 3-0 loss at Stoke on Saturday.
The Head Coach felt we showed spirit after going down to 10 men at the start of the second half - but it was too little, too late.
Stoke took control of what was essentially an even first half with goals on 21 and 32 minutes from Charlie Adam and Steven N’Zonzi, who capitalised on a mix-up between Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier.
Any hopes of a comeback after the break faded when Vlad Chiriches received a second yellow card and was sent off.
The 10 men fought on admirably but were eventually caught out for a third by Mame Diouf four minutes from time.
“I’m very disappointed with the result and our performance in the first half,” reflected Mauricio.
“We conceded two goals and after that, it was difficult to come back into the game and when Vlad got the red card, it was even harder.
“We showed spirit with 10 men but it was too late. We need to show that from the beginning of the game, not react when we’re already down. That was our mistake.
“We’re also disappointed for all the fans who came here to support us, they deserve more and for that reason, we’re all sad.”
