Stevie P meets young hopefuls

Legendary former captain Steve Perryman dropped in at the Training Centre along with Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale this week to chat to our Academy players about his career and to offer useful tips for their own journeys into football.
One of the most important players in our history, Steve made a club record 854 senior appearances for us between 1969 and 1986, winning two UEFA Cups, two FA Cups and two League Cups along the way.
Now serving as Exeter City’s director of football, he and Tisdale put on a thoroughly enjoyable masterclass for some of our Academy starlets.
“We’ve got a great relationship with Steve,” said John McDermott, our Head of Player Development. “He came in with Paul Tisdale, watched training, met with Mauricio Pochettino and both then gave a fascinating talk to our Under-21 and Under-18 players about their backgrounds and experiences in football.
“Exeter City have been fantastic in recent years with three or four of our boys going down there on loan and Steve and Paul gave a great insight into the game at all levels. They also enlightened the boys on what they’re looking for from potential players.”
