Step by step - Hugo

02 February 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

February is a huge month – and Hugo Lloris is not looking beyond the first week.

Manchester City, Fiorentina in the Europa League and Palace in the FA Cup are all on the horizon.

“Yes, it’s an important month and we can start with Norwich and Watford this week,” said skipper Hugo.

“We’re in a good way but there are still four months to go, we’ll give 100% and we’ll see at the end of the season where we are.

“We’re ambitious and we want to go as far as possible in all competitions. That’s why we need to be focused on every game and take it game by game.”

So next up it’s the Canaries at Carrow Road this evening (Tuesday February 2, 7.45pm) as we return to Premier League action after our FA Cup win at Colchester on Saturday.

It’s been a rollercoaster for Alex Neil’s men with three wins in the last seven matches but currently a run of three straight defeats including the incredible 5-4 loss to Liverpool last time out.

That match proved they have a threat in attacking areas and Hugo says the team will have to be switched on as we defend an unbeaten run in the Premier League stretching back to August.

He added: “If one day you are a bit less aggressive than usual and you start to let the opponent believe, they can hurt you, so it’s always the same.

“That’s why the Premier League is the toughest in the world because if one day you are not at 100% the opponent will take advantage.

“Our style is to be dominant, to have possession, to be aggressive, to play as high up the pitch as possible and not let them breathe and that’s what we will try to do again.”
