Step back in time for Lennon

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

It will be a case of back to where it all began when Aaron Lennon gets the chance to step back on the pitch at White Hart Lane.

It was on the 23 August 2003 when Leeds United provided the opposition for our first home game of the season. The visitors took a fifth minute lead through Alan Smith before Mauricio Taricco and the debut making Fredi Kanoute swung the game in our favour.

On 78 minutes Mark Viduka took his leave and was replaced by a then 16-year-old Aaron who became the youngest player to have stepped onto the Premiership stage.

Nearly two years on, the now 18-year-old has swapped the white of Leeds for that of Spurs and he remembers his first impression of his new surroundings.

"That was a while ago now, I was only 16 when I came off the bench and it was brilliant for me," he recalled. "I noticed what a great stadium it is straight away and it was an amazing place to make my debut.

"It is a bit of an irony. Everybody has been saying to me 'you made your debut there and now you're going to play for them'. Things happen like that in football."

Aaron began training with his new teammates over the weekend, welcomed to Spurs Lodge with the dreaded bleep test. He did pretty well, recording a score of 14, but has already been surpassed - along with everybody else - by the energetic Kieran McKenna who eased in with a 16.

"It has been quite hard - I didn't think we would be doing the bleep test! We did some other runs too, but I'll get used to it," he added, before reflecting on his switch to the south.

"It is a massive move for me, 200 miles from home and it will take a little while to get used to it all. I am sure I will settle in well soon.

"I couldn't believe when I was told Spurs were interested in me. It is massive club that is going places and it is where I want to be.

"I have seen them signing top young players - probably the best in the country - and it is a club going somewhere and I want to be part of it all."
