Steffen sets off on Trek of a lifetime

Steffen Freund has joined representatives from AIA China and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation on a unique challenge to raise money for two important causes.

Our International Technical Co-ordinator is trekking the Great Wall of China over five days to raise money for Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s life-changing projects at home and AIA China’s Youth Football Development Project.

The Trek will take in a total of 46 kilometres of hiking routes on the Great Wall, including the Badaling Remnant, the Huanghuacheng, the Gubeikou, the Jinshanling and the Mutianyu sections of the historic landmark.

Steffen said: “It is an honour to be taking part in this incredible challenge for two great causes – the AIA China Youth Football Development Project and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. The Club, working in long-term partnership with AIA, is committed to developing the game at grassroots level throughout the Asia-Pacific region, while also promoting health and wellbeing. Through our fantastic Foundation, we have created more than 2 million life-changing opportunities for people in our local communities in North London, and the Club will use its unique appeal and expertise over the coming years to ensure that the AIA China Youth Football Development Project can encourage more young people across China to play the game and engage in positive and healthy lifestyles.”

AIA China has officially launched the Youth Football Development Project in partnership with the China Youth Development Foundation and Tottenham Hotspur. The project aims to strengthen the foundation of football amongst Chinese youth, and help them realise their football dreams.

“Supporting the development of youth football and popularising a healthy lifestyle is AIA China's longstanding commitment, and we are so glad to continue this through the AIA China Youth Football Development Project.” said Mr. John Cai, AIA China Chief Executive. “Our latest attempt to raise funds for the AIA China Youth Football Development Project with the Great Wall Trek will aim to provide a better developed football environment for Chinese teenagers.”
