Harry Kane reflected on his start to the season and declared: “You have to be ready to stand up and fight.”
The striker has been the centre of attention since the turn of the year with his match-winning performances against Arsenal and Chelsea, his first Premier League hat-trick against Leicester and then a dream goalscoring debut for England in 2014-15.
He went on to score 31 goals for us last term and has remained in the spotlight ever since.
Still only 22, Harry went into Sunday’s match at Bournemouth with one goal in nine in the Premier League – not really just reward for his efforts – but it all came together at the Vitality Stadium with his first hat-trick of the season and a convincing 5-1 victory.
“You have to be patient, especially in the Premier League and as a striker it doesn’t always happen for you,” said Harry, clutching the matchball at Bournemouth.
“You have to wait for your chances, keep working hard, keep trying to improve and the rewards will hopefully come your way.”
Talking about his start to the season, it was put to Harry that he’d never experienced going through a somewhat barren run in the Premier League. “It’s all part of it,” he added.
“It’s all good when you are playing well and scoring goals but sometimes you see the true person when it’s not going so well and when you hit a low, you have to be ready to stand up and fight.
“I’m delighted to get the three goals, it shows I can do it and I have to keep going, keep building confidence and hopefully we’ll keep getting the results.”
