Stats spotlight - Ryan Mason v Fiorentina
19 February 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
In this new feature, we're taking advantage of the new, improved and excellent stats area on the Match Centre to highlight the performance of one player - first up, skipper for the night Ryan Mason in Thursday night's 1-1 draw against Fiorentina.
Ryan stepped back into the starting line-up for the first time since November 29 and captained the team to a 1-1 draw in the Round of 32 first leg against the Serie A side in the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Proudly wearing the captain's armband for the first time, Ryan put in an impressive shift in Florence.
Check out all the statistics plus post-match reaction on video, report, photos and more on the Match Centre.
First up, Ryan's general stats in the graphic below show he had 77 touches and completed 84% passing accuracy.
Next up, the chalkboard illustrates Ryan's passes on the night including one 'key' pass in yellow.
Ryan was often the first port of call for our central defenders, especially as we kept possession so well in the first half, he was found nine times by Toby Alderweireld, one of the biggest passing combinations on the night.
A second look at the chalkboard shows Ryan's defensive work including tackles, blocks, clearances and the number of times he recovered the ball, a key feature of his performance, highlighted in orange.
Sitting just in front of the back four in the holding role with Tom Carroll and then Mousa Dembele, it's no surprise to see Ryan's average position over the 90 minutes as just inside our half. The graphic below shows the average positions of all players.
The final graphic shows Ryan's heat map, again, no surprise to see him working in and around the half-way line.
