*Segers on Schmeichel
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Hans Segers describes Peter Schmeichel as one of the goalkeeping greats - labelling him Sir Alex Ferguson's most important signing at Manchester United.
The Great Dane, now at Manchester City, will make his last appearance against Spurs at the Lane on Friday after announcing his retirement.
Capped an amazing 129 times by Denmark, Schmeichel, now 39, won five titles in eight years at Old Trafford concluding with the treble of Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League in 1999.
After a spell at Sporting Lisbon, he returned to the Premiership with spells at Aston Villa and City.
"He is one of the greatest," said goalkeeping coach Hans. "I believe when he joined Manchester United he helped turn them around.
"People talk about Eric Cantona but United struggled for a goalkeeper for a few years and when he arrived, he helped them start winning titles.
"From my point of view he was Sir Alex's best signing. Sir Alex might say Keane or Cantona or whoever but for me, when he went there, he turned the place around."
Hans pinpoints Schmeichel's famous presence as his greatest strength.
"His presence in the 18-yard box, commanding of his area, his presence over the back four and ability to get the best out of his defenders.
"He also had the ability to keep the ball out of the net one way or another.
"Technically he wasn't the best, but that doesn't matter. The one thing about goalkeeping is to keep the ball out the net."
