*New faces

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ledley King reflected that, when he returned for pre-season training last July, it was like joining a new club with all the different faces around Spurs Lodge.

Of course, at the ripe old age of 24, the now captain is our longest serving player and he returned to the club from his Euro 2004 exploits with a new management team in place, pretty much a new medical team and a good number of new players.

He admitted all the changing faces made it a little bit strange when he reported back, but insists they have been changes for the good.

"It was, it was like a new place when we came back - I hardly recognised anyone!" laughed the England international. "There were a lot of changes and they were positive ones, it is a happy place to be."

The changes didn't finish over the summer months, Jacques Santini left in October and was replaced in what was a smooth transition as Head Coach by Martin Jol. The Dutchman already being in place at the club ensured a continuity that led to improved performances on the pitch.

"It didn't have a bad effect at all," added Ledley. "When Martin, who had been here from the start of the season, took over it was easy. Everyone knew him, got on with him and liked his methods.

"It was a swift change, easily done and we started to produce some good stuff on the pitch after it.

"We have a strong team spirit I think the fact we are young and have a lot of things in common probably helps. Over the years we have had quite a lot of experienced players, now we are around the same age group and seem to get on very well on and off the pitch."
