*Mendes to muscle up
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Pedro Mendes believes he still has to fully adapt to the physical nature of the Premiership.
We spoke to the Portuguese midfielder following the games against Rangers and Nottingham Forest in pre-season - a good taster of what was to follow once the season began - and Pedro insisted he would be working hard on his physical attributes in order to cope in his new environment.
From his dogged performances in the opening four games of the season, it appears clear that the capture from Porto is more than able to thrive in the intensity of the English game. Pedro differs and, in his opinion, he feels he has much more to do.
"It has been nothing I wasn't expecting," he reflected as the team began preparations for the visit of Norwich to the Lane on Sunday. "The games have been very tough, strong tackles and running - I was waiting for this.
"I really need to work more at the gym to improve my physical consistency. I need to be better in the tackle and, after four games, I keep with my first idea and impression of what I need to do."
However, on the team front, Pedro is pretty satisfied with the performances and points return from the first four games.
"I think it is a very good start. Every single game at the beginning of the season - Liverpool, Newcastle, West Brom and also Birmingham - have been tough games, but I think we did well.
"I hope that the future continues in this way with positive results.
"Before the season started when we saw the fixtures we thought it was going to be tough. It was, but we have a very good team - a young, but ambitious team who are very motivated for the future.
"Everyone wants the best for the team and, all this together, contributes to a very strong Tottenham and that is what is happening. I think we have done well."
