*Martin's best displays of 04-05

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

We've had Martin Jol's five favourite Spurs goals of last season - now for his pick of our best displays last term.

Martin's selection of Erik Edman as our best goal was popular with fans voting for their goal of the season - Erik's 40-yard stunner at Anfield polling over 50 per cent of the votes.

And it would be a similar case here as the Head Coach has gone for the New Year's Day destruction of Everton at the Lane.

Dean Marney grabbed the headlines with a stunning two-goal full home debut with further goals from Reto Ziegler, Pedro Mendes and Robbie Keane securing a 5-2 win against a side that would finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

Here are Martin's thoughts on the best displays of last term.

"I think Everton was our best performance. Why? No-one expected us to score five goals against them because they were doing so well at the time. Dean Marney scored two goals and that was a marvellous game for him, his home debut in front of our fans. We also had a couple of players who were unavailable, so that was a great performance.

"Scoring wise, I think Southampton at home. Harry Redknapp had just taken over as manager and everyone knows how he can motivate players. I was a bit worried before the match but we scored five goals.

"Footballing wise, I think the 5-1 win against Aston Villa. That was probably the best footballing performance, very good. If you remember the FA Cup match at Newcastle where we had 65 per cent of the possession, we still lost, but that was a very good performance.

"My first derby and scoring four goals against Arsenal — I don’t think anyone else did that this season but we managed it but let in five, that was our own fault. Still, it was an exciting game.

"I would also have to mention Blackburn away and Manchester City, 1-0 wins and very disciplined performances. We didn’t want to give away space, achieved that and scored good goals. Although they weren’t the best performances, they were very important for us at the time."
