*Hughton encouraged by Dalmat
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton describes the second half impact made by Stephane Dalmat against Leicester last weekend as 'very encouraging'.
Dalmat, a replacement for Rohan Ricketts at the break, illuminated what was - at the time - a pretty dull game with a delightful range of defence-splitting chipped and threaded passes. He then played a major part in settling the encounter with a dazzling run and shot that culminated in Fredi Kanoute netting the winner.
The French midfielder has had to be patient since joining on loan from Inter Milan just before the transfer deadline and has been diligently adapting to the English game at reserve team level.
Judging by his performance against rugged opponents at the Walkers Stadium, that patience appears to be paying dividends.
"It is very encouraging - he is a player that we know has got a fabulous talent," said Chris.
"The difficulty is always when a player doesn't know the Premiership or the English game, it is adjusting to that and it is for us to determine the right way to include him.
"Up until now it has been a slower process. He has got better in training with us and with the language - which is always a problem.
"He has ability and is obviously a player we are looking forward to seeing more of."
So is taking the slightly longer route to full Premiership combat, via the reserves, a recipe to successfully nurturing players accustomed to different style of football?
"I think so, it has given him a chance to see the Premiership and witness the physical nature of it," responded the first team coach.
"The nature of reserve team football was something that was a surprise to him. They have little reserve football in Italy and the level of competitiveness in the reserves is different for him and he has adjusted well."
