*Deano's target

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dean Richards insists he is 'under no illusions' over the challenge he faces to break back into the first team picture.

The big central defender returned to reserve team action last week - unfortunately he missed the win against Leicester City on Monday with a minor calf strain - following a virus that affected his ears.

He reports that he has been keeping close tabs on the solid progress made by the team in the opening weeks of the season and it hasn't escaped his notice that the defence is looking strong.

"Definitely, I have watched the lads every week, they are playing very well and have been very tight defensively," reflected Deano.

"I am under no illusions, it is going to be very difficult for me to come back and break straight into the team.

"Competition for places is what every club wants. Ledley is playing out of his skin and I am really pleased for him. Not only for club, but for country as well.

"Noureddine has come in and is doing well too so it is going to be very difficult to get back in. I understand that, I have got to be patient and bide my time - hopefully if I get a chance I will take it."

However, Deano feels that top clubs do need at least four senior central defenders in the ranks and he is hopefully to force his way back into the squad in the forthcoming weeks.

"Obviously I am not going to get into the team in the foreseeable future because the lads are playing so well. I hope that after three or four reserve games to get back into the squad and be in the frame.

"There is Anthony as well waiting to come in and I think it is good for the club to have four centre-halves capable of doing a good job at this level."
