*Clive's learning curve

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Clive Allen reflected that he has learned much in a short space of time since stepping in as reserve team coach.

Our former prolific frontman returned to club in October and took over the reserve reigns on a temporary basis following the departure of Colin Calderwood to Northampton.

It has been a first club appointment for Clive, who has previously worked with young England teams and worked in the media - where he is a regular ITV pundit.

He could not resist the chance to return to Spurs and try his hand at club coaching and he says the help of David Pleat and Chris Hughton has been vital to him.

"I was absolutely thrilled to get the opportunity," recalled Clive. "I feel I have thrown myself into it in the best way I can.

"David was very reassuring in the beginning, stating that he knew I was capable of doing it. The respect of the players has been fantastic right through the club and I have enjoyed that.

"I feel I have learned a lot over a short space of time and Chris has been a great help as well. The value of Chris has been the experience he has had with the reserves over the years himself.

"There has been times where I have been very frustrated, but he has been someone I have turned to for invaluable support when things have not gone as well I would have hoped.

"You are enthusiastic and want everything to go in your favour - it doesn't always happen as we know from all the teams at the club.

"It has been a sharp learning curve for me, but one I have really enjoyed and feel I have really benefited from."
