Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Tottenham Hotspur Football in the Community is pleased to announce that our work with Barclaycard Free Kicks will continue into 2003/04.
Free Kicks, launched in 2001, is a three-year programme investing in grassroots football to support children in disadvantaged areas. The programme covers three main areas:
· Providing kit, equipment and coaching to teams from the most deprived areas of the country
· Helping people with disabilities play the game
· Promoting educational schemes with Barclaycard Premiership clubs
At Tottenham we have worked with Barclaycard in assisted partnership schools in the Haringey community to develop and implement a more inclusive curriculum through increased access to and participation in football. In 2003/04 we aim to develop this initiative beyond the Haringey Borough, culminating in an Inter-borough Disability Tournament in Spring.
In the education arena, last seasons 'Healthy Lifestyles' programme in secondary schools and work in partnership with primary schools to improve numeracy standards using the White Hart Lane Maths Trail will continue and develop.
Barclaycard's Sponsorship Director Nic Gault said: "This investment is about giving people - particularly children - the opportunity not just to play football but to use its popularity and tremendous positive qualities to improve many other aspects of their life. We are genuinely committed to English football and have worked and achieved a great deal with the help of Barclaycard Premiership clubs and the Football Foundation."
