Standard Chartered Bank to sponsor Club tour to South Korea

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Standard Chartered Bank is to sponsor the Club at the forthcoming 2005 Peace Cup in South Korea.

As part of the sponsorship the players’ shirts will carry Standard Chartered Bank branding during the tournament. Additionally, we will participate in a number of football events designed for Standard Chartered Bank customers and employees and to raise funds for charity and will be joined by Hong Myung-bo, one of South Korea’s stars from the 2002 World Cup.

John Filmeridis, President & CEO of Korea First Bank, recently acquired by Standard Chartered, said, “Spurs boasts a long history and tradition, a great team spirit and a will to win, which are very similar to Standard Chartered’s approach. He added, “This sponsorship reflects the Bank’s determination to get closer to customers as well as to local communities.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, the Club’s Executive Director Paul Barber said: “We’re delighted to announce this sponsorship agreement with Standard Chartered Bank. They are an extremely well respected and established brand in the Far East and this agreement represents a fantastic opportunity for us to develop our own brand in this part of the world. We’re looking forward to working with Standard Chartered in South Korea on what we hope will be a successful tour both on and off the pitch. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our main sponsors Thomson for their kind co-operation with this special sponsorship agreement.”
