Dorian Dervite scored his first goal in his opening game in our colours as Enfield Town were hit for seven by Clive Allen's Spurs XI side at Goldsdown Road on Friday evening. The powerful central defender headed home an excellent leveller on 19 minutes after the home side started brightly and took the lead with just five minutes on the clock through Bryan Hammatt.
It was pretty much one-way traffic after the Frenchman's intervention and, after Stuart Lewis and Simon Dawkins - twice - went close, the advantage was secured on 33 minutes when Terry Dixon struck from close range following a goalmouth scramble.
Charlie Daniels was denied getting his name on the scoresheet shortly after when he surged through the home defences and rounded goalkeeper Darren Bonfield but, on applying his shot, a retreating defender managed to clear the ball off the line.
It didn't take long to add to the scoring though and Jacques Maghoma picked up the ball at the midway point of the Enfield half and, after a couple of strides forward, took aim and arrowed the ball into the top corner of the net on 40 minutes.
There was still time for another before the break and it was the impressive Dawkins who sprinted clear of his markers and struck high into the net past the despairing right arm of keeper Bonfield.
Jamie Davis was next to find the net via a deflected effort with 57 minutes on the clock before substitute Jake Livermore brilliantly lobbed the ball over the keeper to make it six - six minutes later.
Davis completed the scoring and a very impressive performance when he sped clear in the closing stages and slotted low into the net.
