Spurs X1 to face Northwood

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

A Spurs X1 side are to face Ryman League outfit Northwood on Wednesday July 23.

The game has been arranged as a Testimonial Match for Northwood skipper Chris Gell who is starting his tenth season with the club. Chris is a lifelong Spurs fan and is delighted that Tottenham have agreed to send a side down for the game.

Northwood will be starting the 2003/2004 season in the Premier Division of the Ryman League for the first-ever time having been promoted as Champions of Division One North last May. Chris has been part of a steady rise for the club with three promotions in the past seven years.

He is now fast approaching 500 appearances for the club and has shown tremendous loyalty to Northwood, something quite rare at non-League level these days. Chris joined Northwood in 1994 having been released by Wycombe Wanderers where he played in their youth and reserve sides.

He also played alongside Ben Thatcher in the Hillingdon District sides many years ago.
