Spurs weekend preview – Hammers double-header, Arsenal and Leyton Orient!

17 November 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Two home matches with West Ham United in the space of six-and-a-half hours, not to mention hosting Arsenal's development squad in the Premier League 2 and a cup tie at Leyton Orient for Spurs Ladies – it's quite a weekend of London derbies coming up! Here's a run-down of all of our teams' fixtures this weekend...

First team
Premier League
Saturday, November 19, 2016
White Hart Lane, 5.30pm

Slaven Bilic brings his side to White Hart Lane having lost only once in all competitions since the end of September – a 2-0 defeat away to Everton on October 30.

West Ham have beaten Crystal Palace and Sunderland during that period, also getting the better of Chelsea in the EFL Cup, while drawing 1-1 with Middlesbrough and Stoke City – the latter result coming just before the international break.

From our point of view, we're chasing our first league win in five attempts, although we remain unbeaten on the domestic scene since the beginning of the 2016-17 campaign.

Here on this week, we’ve got the Inside Track on the Hammers, courtesy of talkSPORT radio's Ian Abrahams.

Mauricio Pochettino has also provided a team news update ahead of the game.

Development squad
Premier League 2
Friday, November 18, 2016
Hotspur Way, 12noon

Friday lunchtime sees our development squad return to action in the Premier League 2 with a home match against Arsenal at the Training Centre.

It's the first time we've faced the Gunners at this level since the 2013-14 campaign and coach Ugo Ehiogu says his charges are eager to get out onto the pitch and produce a good performance against our North London rivals.

“There is always that edge when we play against Arsenal,” he said. “We're very close to winning games as opposed to drawing or narrowly missing out. The emphasis is the same for this one and we're enthusiastic to put on a performance.”

Set to welcome back a couple of development squad regulars from injury, Ugo says he's been pleased with the endeavour shown in training since the 1-1 draw with Manchester United last time out in this competition on October 28.

“Performance-wise, it's been very good,” he added. “It's been what we've asked for. We've had players coming back and getting fitter, training has been competitive and bright and I see no reason for that not to continue. We've worked on our play in the final third, looked to be a bit more arrogant in and around the box and looked to get better movement off crosses to finish off our good work.”

Under-18 Premier League
Saturday, November 19, 2016
Hotspur Way, 11am

Just a few hours before we face West Ham in the Premier League at White Hart Lane on Saturday, our Under-18s are also in home league action against the same opponents.

The match, at the Training Centre, represents our second Under-18 Premier League meeting with the Hammers this term after we narrowly lost out in the away fixture back in August, the hosts grabbing a 1-0 win on that occasion despite goalkeeper Brandon Austin saving a penalty for us.

Again, we'll provide updates from the game via @SpursOfficial on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Under-18s learned this week that they'll face Stevenage at home in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.

Spurs Ladies
Capital Women's Cup
Sunday, November 20, 2016
Mile End Park Stadium, 1pm

Spurs Ladies face Leyton Orient Women twice in various cup competitions over the next couple of weeks, beginning this Sunday with an away game in the quarter-finals of the Capital Women's Cup.

That’ll be followed in two weeks’ time with a home tie against Orient in the first round proper of the SSE Women's FA Cup on Sunday, December 4.

Of course, Karen Hills’ players are heading into this weekend’s game with confidence after maintaining their unbeaten start to the season by winning their top-of-the-table clash with Coventry United last Sunday.
