Spurs vs West Ham - Tim's preview
18 December 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Tim Sherwood says he's stepping into a ‘huge game’ against West Ham at the Lane tonight.
Our Head of Football Development takes over first team duties for the first time alongside Chris Ramsey, our Senior Professional Phase Coach and Les Ferdinand, our Professional Phase Coach, following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas.
Tim and his coaching team took training for the first time on Tuesday and now face the Hammers with a place in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup up for grabs.
Sunderland and City are already through to the last four and the fourth tie sees United travel to Stoke tonight.
“It’s a huge game, especially on the back of what they did to us at the Lane a month or so ago,” said Tim, referring to West Ham’s 3-0 win in the Premier League in October.
“That was disappointing. We have to get out there on the front foot and impose ourselves as soon as we can.”
It was suggested to Tim that the Hammers were likely to adapt the same tactics that worked on that occasion – inflicting our first home loss of the campaign in the process.
“We’ll have to be patient,” he added. “They got bodies behind the ball that day and tried to catch us on the counter-attack. We just hope we can impose ourselves on them nice and early, get the crowd behind us and really be up and at them.”
