Spurs vs Villa U18s - Kieran's preview
23 January 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Our Under-18s return to league action on Saturday with a home match against Aston Villa.
The fixture comes less than 48 hours after our 2-0 FA Youth Cup triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers and marks our first Barclays Under-18 Premier League outing since the end of November – the lads having enjoyed tournament campaigns in Florida and Malaysia in the intervening period.
Ahead of what he expects will be a difficult test, Under-18s Coach Kieran McKenna says our youngsters will have no problem with the quick turnaround in games.
“We’ll make changes, hopefully utilising a couple more of the Under-16s as well as some of the boys who didn’t play on Thursday night, but the boys are well game-hardened at the moment after a lot of tournament matches in a short space of time,” he said.
“We’ll be ready to go again on Saturday and hopefully it will be a good game against Villa.
“They tend to come and press very high up the pitch and look to stop us dictating the play as we like to do, so the boys will have to find a solution to that.
“We look forward to having another game so quickly.”
