Tim Sherwood is determined to finish the campaign with a victory against Villa on Sunday.
A point will guarantee sixth in the Premier League and a place in the Europa League next season.
Villa arrive at the Lane clear of any relegation trouble and a dangerous team on their travels – they have the best away record outside the top eight.
“On their day, Villa are a very good side and away from home, they are even better,” said Tim.
“They have a number of threats within their ranks, particularly with the pace they possess on the counter-attack and they have certainly saved some of their best performances for away from Villa Park. We’ll have to stay focused.
“I would expect us to have a lot of the ball. It will make life a lot easier if we do break through early because they will have to resort to a Plan B and that will leave more space.
“We have to make sure we apply ourselves correctly and get what we need, and that’s a victory.
“It’s always good to win your last game to send the fans home with a positive result.”
