Tim Sherwood is full of praise for Southampton but insisted: "We want them to worry about us."
Head Coach Tim said the players were ‘buoyant’ after the battling performance against Benfica in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Trailing 3-1 from the first leg at the Lane, we went 1-0 down on the night before rocking the Estadio da Luz with two goals in as many minutes with 10 minutes remaining.
We threw everything at the Portuguese giants - unbeaten since November - but the third goal proved elusive and Benfica finally ended it with a penalty in the final seconds.
We now return to Premier League action with a 1.30pm kick-off against the Saints back at the Lane on Sunday.
“Anyone who watched the performance against Benfica will not want to play us,” said Tim. “We are very buoyant now. This has been a real positive.
“Southampton have good, young English players and a good playing system but we want them to worry about us and we’ll go for it.
“Between now and the end of the season we’re going to have a real go.”
Southampton sit ninth in the table having lost just two of their last 10 matches in the Premier League, spearheaded by a front three of Jay Rodriguez, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert, all members of Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad.
“They have quality all over the field, they don’t just rely on that front three,” added Tim. “They have 11 players out there who have done well over the season. As I said though, it must be all about us.”
