Spurs vs Newcastle - Mauricio's preview

Mauricio Pochettino expects to face a Newcastle team improving in confidence at the Lane on Sunday.

The Toon secured a first Premier League win of the campaign against Leicester City at St James Park last weekend.

We responded to last week’s 4-1 loss at City with an impressive showing and 5-1 win against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on Thursday.

Now Mauricio is looking to put a run together. “We want to start another good run so this is an important game, another important three points,” he said.

“We have to be ready because Newcastle is a strong team with very good players.

“Maybe the beginning of the season was difficult for them but in the last game they got the three points at home and that means they will be coming here with confidence.

“We play at home in front of our supporters and we hope that we have a good performance and we’ll try to get the three points.”
