Spurs vs FC Sheriff - Mousa's game plan

07 November 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Mousa Dembele is confident we can secure our place in the knockout stage of the Europa League with a victory over FC Sheriff tonight.

The Belgian international admitted he was not surprised by our Moldovan opponents’ sharp and purposeful style of play when we met them on their own patch a fortnight ago – a game that saw us run out 2-0 winners.

But ahead of our matchday four encounter in Group K at the Lane, where a win against Sheriff will seal our participation in the competition post-Christmas, Mousa reckons we have enough to extend our winning run in Europe.

“We know from when we played them before that they are a good side,” said the 26-year-old.

“I was not surprised because I saw some video and I knew they had a strong squad. But at home we always need to play our game and if we play our game on Thursday we can go for the win.”

Mousa added that another positive result against Sheriff will give us an ideal platform on which to build when we return to Premier League action against Newcastle United on Sunday.

“Up until now we are quite happy with the situation and we’ve done well in the Europa League,” he added.

“This game is important, especially because it’s in front of our supporters, and we could get a nice feeling for the weekend if we get the result.”
