Spurs vs City - Tim's preview
29 January 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Tim Sherwood says the players are determined to restore some pride against City tonight.
We suffered a 6-0 loss at the Etihad back in November where City opened the scoring inside 20 seconds and then hit four goals in a 20-minute spell either side of half-time.
That defeat hurt the lads and while City have been in incredible form since, we've also won seven of our last 10 matches in the Premier League including five of our last six building up to tonight's return at the Lane.
Asked if that defeat would be a driving factor, Tim said: "It will be there in their minds, I’m sure, but one game to the next is always different.
"The important thing is their pride and we have a lot of pride in that dressing room. A lot of the lads in there would have played at the Etihad and they will want revenge.
"That was possibly the start of City’s rise. They’ve been tearing teams apart since then and any team can get hit four or five or six. They are relentless and can score goals at any time. They can get on a run and get a head of steam up, but we have to ask them some questions."
City lost four of their first six away matches in the Premier League but Tim put that down to a settling on period for new players.
"They had some new signings in there but they have settled and they play very attacking football," he added.
"They have pace on the counter as well, they go with two strikers and they cause you problems.
"You have to put their early away form down to the players not gelling, but they are now and we have to try and put a spoke in the works."
