Mauricio Pochettino has ensured the team moves on from the euphoria of our Capital One Cup quarter-final victory against Newcastle, declaring: "We need to be ready for Burnley."
Wednesday night’s 4-0 win was arguably our best performance of the season and set-up a semi-final over legs against League One side Sheffield United.
But those matches are not until January - and Mauricio has his eye very much on the present.
“Our performance was very good against Newcastle and we enjoyed the game but we need to stop now, that game is in the past and now we need to be focused on Burnley,” said Mauricio after training on Friday.
“This is a difficult game against a physical team and we need to be ready because Burnley have had some very good performances in the last few weeks.
“After the win against Newcasle it’s important to keep this level, to be confident and to play well again. It’s a very important game for us.”
