Spurs vs Brighton U18s - Kieran's preview

Fri 10 October 2014, 12:10|Tottenham Hotspur

Kieran McKenna expects a “new challenge” for our Academy players on Saturday as we host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League.

Youth team fixtures against the Seagulls have been few and far between in recent years, meaning many of our youngsters will be facing the South Coast club for the first time.

Under-18s coach Kieran, who expects squad rotation to come into play owing to the international break, says an interesting game is in prospect.

“I don’t think we’ve played Brighton in a competitive game at youth level for quite a while so it will be a new challenge,” he said.

“They’ve obviously got a footballing culture running through their club in terms of how they want to play so they’ll come here and want to impose their style. We’ll do the same, though, so it should be a good game and it will hopefully be a chance for some different players.

“It’s been a really good week with the international break, some boys have been training up with the first team and made a good impression and some could be involved in the Under-21 match at Norwich on Tuesday night.

“That means it’s a chance for some different players to come in on Saturday and make their impression, so it should be an exciting game.”

We’ll have live goal updates from the match, kick-off 12pm, on Twitter @SpursOfficial, along with a full report here on tottenhamhotspur.com after the game.
