Spurs vs Arsenal - Tim's preview
15 March 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Tim Sherwood says there is 'no bigger platform' for the players to bounce back from a difficult week than Sunday’s North London derby at the Lane.
We take on the Gunners in a key encounter in the Premier League at 4pm.
We remain in fifth place having played a game more than Arsenal, currently third, but victory would leave us just three points behind.
It's been a roller-coaster spell building up to the latest derby clash - back-to-back victories over Dnipro and Cardiff lifted spirits ahead of facing Chelsea and Benfica, but defeats in both of those matches have seen us experience different emotions.
"That’s the nature of the game, it’s up and down and the players realise that," said Head Coach Tim.
"They are experienced enough to know that there is no bigger platform to springboard the season again than a win at home against Arsenal.
"It’s a fantastic occasion. It always was to play in these games and this will be my first time as manager to stand opposite Arsene Wenger. Hopefully we’ll get one over on them."
Tim scored in a 2-1 victory against the Gunners in November, 1999.
"I hope it’s a good omen!" he said. "That was a long time ago but still great memories, one of the best nights I had playing here in a Tottenham shirt."
